Hello Everyone!

We have an outbreak of Asterina Starfish.
Whilst all parameters in the tanks are perfect it seems that for some reason we are slowly loosing some some corals  :(

I was reading up that the Asterina Starfish can potentially cause damage to corals.

so........ does anyone have an harlequin shrimp we can buy??????

It seems so difficult to find one  :|

We are between newmarket (Suffolk) and Downham Market (Norfolk)

thanks

Fabio

Hi if you can’t find one you could try a acrylic rod with a needle attached to the end to act as a spear.

Welcome to ReefBase.

Make sure once your Asterina problem is resolved, which it will, quickly, you'll have to sell the shrimp on otherwise it'll starve to death as starfish is all they eat. They'll happily slice up any big starfish too, like sand sifting etc.

Are you sure it's not nudibranchs, flatworms, etc.?  That's far more common than Asterina being the issue.  It's rare to get the coral eating variety.  I have thousands, and no issues.

You can get the rod from eBay and steel a good size needle from the sowing kit
