Going to be doing a bit of work on my tank set up and was wondering if any of you have purchased a power back up and could offer advice as to what would be required to run in terms of lights, powerheads etc would be required to run in the advent of a power shortage

Thanks:

What are you planning to run and for how long?

I was looking at getting a briefcase generator to sit in the shed in case of problems after my dad had a 7 day powercut recently.

One thing to remember with UPS or generators is that if you are using them with A/C equipment e.g. basic powerheads/pumps then you need a pure sinewave model.  Cheaper ones don't have this and can cause the pumps to judder terribly.
