Got a Zoa frag with 6 heads on about 7 weeks ago. At first they where  fully open and looked great. Then I decided to switch my second Radion on - previously had just  the one. Did they not like that ! Closed almost instantly. So shut the second down and they opened again. Then had a mini disaster in that somehow they had been knocked off the shelf they where on and bit the sand

Now they are back @ 3 days ago but this be honest they haven’t really fully extended since they where first introduced and they look a bit wishy washy. They are 1/3 the way up the tank and am running the Radion A+B schedule so 15-16 K tank is 2 ft deep.

I did dip them in Iodine before I put them in. Other corals are fine LPS / SPS softies . Riccordia Hammer Mushrooms digis.

Water is
Ca 450
Mg1380
KH 8
No3 5
Po4 0.03
Sal 35ppm - check each week on water change to make sure what goes in matches all home produced RODI unit
Water change 20% each week out of 340 ltrs- easy and quick as I have it all down to a fine art now plus with the volume the parameters shouldn’t swing that much, don’t dose

So the question is do I leave them or move them up the tank - I think Granny Smiths, oh they arent in direct flow but their is plenty of current both at the bottom middle and surface of the tank, oh the polyps facing the light are obviously more open but none have fully opened since a few days after intro, so it has to be something to do with my water? But that is about as good as It will get  I can’t think of anything else that might be relevant  feed frozen 3 times per day mix a mix of all sorts and also a sheet I’d Nori for the algae eaters. Their is hardly any algae on the glass or back wall and nothing on sand

Finally. I would like to grow a Zoa garden but If I am having a little trouble with this first set it maybe I have it wrong, hence asking you peeps

Not great pic as blues picked up on IPhone, again they have  been knocked off and are now on the sand at the bottom.all polyps are partialy open. I cant  seem to get a perfect or stable bond either by gel glue or putty for some of the corals all the rock is pitted in some way :s

Move them to a place with less flow, see how they react :)

I reckon they'll bounce back, those are hard as nails.

I can't kill mine off, even injecting them with vinegar, covering them with putty, injecting them with kalk paste.   Couple of months later they're back.

If I move to low flow, do you think they will fully open, They get food from the frozen waste  that I put in the tank via my ketchup bottle which has tank water and defrosted cubes on it

best thing to do is to try it and give it a week or so and see if theres any changes. If they look worse, move them back to there last happier location.

Don't worry mate, they're hardy and soon ... they will be everywhere in your tank as you move the neighbouring rocks around :)

Oh, No..... my mate gave then said they were Zoas...!!!
Except they aren’t and now it sounds as if they are like GSP . Good luck he had then on a small pice of rock.. I think I will just stick them all out of the way in a corner we’re they can live out there days Or I might just leave them on the sand bed

Thanks everyone

Truely the “Marines” of the coral world.. Kill me , and again Kill me and again , I am not going nowhere, give it your best shot 😀
