Hi guys I looking for some advice on what mushroom corals would be easy for me to start with and do well in my tank, I have a fluval evo 13.5 gallon with powerhead and stock lighting, I would say the tank has a medium flow in most places with some spots higher than others and some more sheltered areas with lower flow, the light is a 14000k led which seems OK but nothing special, I have zoas, kenya tree, montipora digitata, palythoas and wavey hand corals which all seem to be doing well so I was hoping to add some mushrooms soon, preferably ones that are colourful, I have read so many horror stories of people who have added certain mushrooms to have them melt or die within weeks so I definitely want to stay clear of anything difficult, I've heard that there are also easy mushrooms to keep but as I'm still new to the hobby I'm not 100% what species would be best to start off with, thanks in advance for your help

Thanks:

Ricordea and Yuma Mushrooms are more tolerant of lighting than others, however I wouldn't worry too much about your lighting for these :D
Then you have Rhodactis (typically these are the bounce mushrooms) and Discosoma which can get some nice colourful variations

Zoa Marines has a decent Mushroom Starter Pack for £30, 1 Rhodactis and 3x Discosoma but it is a lucky dip on colours

Then you can get into the fancy stuff like Jawbreakers, Superman, Bounce, St Thomas (LOVE THESE - have a couple of babies Intersteller Mushrooms in my tanks)

I love St Thomas Mushrooms, would love a pile of them

I'd have a look around for cheap Discosoma mushrooms, a lot of them with enough blue light star going "intersteller"

Thanks Ratvan those St Thomas shrooms are gorgeous, I like the idea of that mushroom starter pack aswell, I also really like yumas and ricordia but those are the types I've read the horror stories about, I guess they must be very type dependant, some yumas are great and others a bit finicky

Yuma's are more tolerant of higher lighting. BUT still take a while to acclimate to the lighting. When you get the mushrooms place them in a Tupperware box filled with rock rubble/crushed coral. if they blow off the plug then they should take hold onto the rubble/coral, you can then glue the rubble to a plug/rock etc.

Trust me when I say that I have tried to stick mushrooms to plugs with every damn thing at some point

Thanks for the tip Ratvan, I will need to pick up some rock rubble for it but that's no problem, there's always something new to learn in this hobby lol
