Interesting.  I found that Kole tangs don't go for long algae, but if you rip the gha, so it's short, they'll eat the short/fresh growth.  I wonder if they go for short algae as it will have detritus trapped in it, or whether they scrape the surfaces, consuming detritus whilst looking for short gha and other algae?

Not that I've huge experience with Tangs, had 4 kinds, I'd argue you can't beat a Yellow for stripping a tank bare of anything remotely algae-like.  :glad:

The bristle tooth tangs don't tend to eat long algae, there better at scrapping the surface of the rock, mine eats tons of diatoms from the rear glass.
I found my naso lazy but it would eat some long gha, he prefers to swim about but it's always first at the clip.
When I added the regal and yellow they decimated all long gha with in a matter of weeks.

I'm the tang man and have a tank full of tangs

Kole
yellow
Purple
Regal
Orange Shoulder
Lipstick

Between my clan

Bryopsis
bubble algae
hair algae
chaeto

and any other greenery that ends up in my glass box gets flattened I actually struggle to find any algae the tangs even suck on the gravel it's spotless in there.

Good job as well as I've done absolutely sod all to it in weeks and probably 2 month's or more since a waterchnage.
