50ft Crab?

Here's a photo of a crab which looks to measure around 50ft wide.

It's more than likely not real. It'd take a very long time for a crab to reach those proportions and if it's ok with coming up to the coast like that, it'd have been seen, and filmed before.

Also, I'd struggle to believe a crustacean that big can find food, and enough of it. Food it might find would be dead whales, sharks, large fish, etc but they'd sink into deep water.

It's a fun topic, there was a cool VSauce video on the upper limit of human (and other animals' size), and how things don't scale very well once you're massive.

There's also the Cope-deperet rule, that suggests as time goes by, all creatures evolve larger and larger until they reach some upper limits.

For instance, in terrestrial animals at least, animals over 21kg almost always prey on larger animals than themselves. Although undersea there are huge whales that'll die and sink, to be scavenged on.
