This is remarkably, eerily beautiful... Marble quarrying.

It's like watching an orchestral conductor, everyone thinks he's a formality, and is redundant, it's only those in the know who appreciate his worth. In this video, it seems he could be done without, but obviously not, as he's there. He's orchestrating those huge machines in perfect unison to bring down huge, perfect blocks of Marble, without who would clearly bring down smaller, less value blocks of snapped, smashed marble...

It's the same fascination as watching someone doing sign-language, or those guys who wave at jet planes.

He's a banksman, the hand gestures are used on construction sites too.
What I thought was a great idea was the use of rubble to break the fall of the marble slabs so they didn't break up on impact.
Something about how clean and smooth the surfaces were, I kinda started day dreaming about how they would have achieve such a cut, but mostly how buildings would look carved out of this beautiful material using modern architecture.
I should really sort this out!!

Oh I didn't realise that was intentional, but yeah, that is clever, to avoid the jarring shock of a slap down impact that'd shatter it.

I think they cut it using kind of a huge band saw, dragging an abrasive chain through it, looping, I've seen other rock like granite cut like that.

I don't know, possibly. BMW bought a BMW Isetta bubble car back from the public, well, from Wheeler Dealers, anyway.

Has anyone seen the cult Jam sketch series?

This one is particularly amusing, and very true. You can't argue with stupid people, because they won't realise they've lost, so you can't win!
