Well, turns out that the Heater exploded at some point during the night, took out a 2" whole in the rear of the tank. Managed to salvage most of the Macro Algae that was inside. Might have to pull out the Fluval Spec 3 and try this again....

Bit of a kick in the nuts I admit. So been busy this weekend rummaging around in my spares collection. I have amassed a small hoard by this point. So SWMBO will be happy some of it at least is not taking up space in the spare room anymore.

Bit of fine work to do still, but the majority of the structural work is complete, need to pick up aquarium sealant and glue wall into place, rest of build will continue with wall in situ. Will finish building media rack and DIY weir comb for improved surface skimming. I am looking for some tiny random flow generator, might have to contact someone with a 3D printer...

Currently thinking of RFA and Sexy Shrimp tank.
Anyways a few build pictures below. Going to pick up a 15w preset and inkbird at the end of the month and an ATO that will add 20% to the system volume (2L)

Got the wall in place today, also more or less sorted out a plan for this reef now. Just have to wait until payday, putting this in the office to start end of the month.

Will go through the obligitary cycle, will add CuC and Macro (Codium) once diatoms appear. First stocking will be Zoas. Will grow frag and swap/sell these for SPS and slowly make the switch over.

Tight monthly budget on this one £25

Thanks, just need to dig out my rock racks and add them to the tank. The benefit of having the wall in place before adding the shelves is I know exactly how little space I have to move in here

Ok so decided that I will be focusing HEAVILY on Chalice Corals in here, as a result I do not need to include any shelves as I think that I can use teh plugs to place the chalices at different angles (vertical, horizontal, 45 degree etc)
Now to find me some Chalices

Cheers, I wanted to do a Genus only tank for a little while now. Decided that I would pick a Species that would be suitable for the tank conditions rather than the appearance of the Coral itself (I do really like Chalices however) Chalices was top choice, also considered Leptastrea or a Moon Coral heavy tank (Favites and Favia) but decided that Chalices would be the more affordable options

Thank you, it is coming along nicely. Thankfully January is a long month so i dont need to rush anything. Additionally as you know I am on another Forum and we're discussing another Pico Reef Contest. I am hoping that the Spec 3 is a Valid entry so I can enter it into the contest, I am hoping for a longevity/growth competition this time around!

That's looking fantastic, it's definitely in with a good chance in the competition, are you going to have any livestock in it or is it coral only?

Thanks:

Going to see if I can get my hands on a Pom Pom and maybe a pair of Trimma Cana Gobies. Or a single Clown Goby or some sort. No yasha and shrimp as bare bottom.

Entry is valid so 12 months to grow Acan garden
