So my new baby (glass one not the real one for a few months yet lol) is finally wet!
I had to wait a week while we put flooring down and i found some muscle to help carry the tank down into the basement, but now it's wet! Just!
I have about 20kg of my old dried rock and just bought another 15kg of liverock to seed everything. I suspect that will be too much but i shall weed it out as i aquascape. It's only half full at the moment, salt water is mixing and RO unit is flat out. Hopefully coral sand will arrive tomorrow so i can start making it look pretty.
I have a 4ft T5 unit borrowed until i can save up for LED's and the next purchase will be a skimmer in the next couple of weeks, as it is i have a phosphate reactor waiting to go into the sump when i finally get it filled. Oh and i intend to partition the skimmer section to have a small area for growing cheato.
It's coming on!

Ha! Just worked out how, thanks!
So she's now up and running, I have a borrowed T5 unit until I've saved up for LEDs, the glass is filthy until I can find the other half of my magnet... ordering skimmer and pump for phosphate reactor today. Just stabilising salinity and temp then shall get testing. Hope to get a few easy frags in when it's ready.

Thanks:

So today i've decided to play around with the overflow to try and get the water level in tank slightly higher.... all i've succeeded in doing is making the thing sound like a drain  lol

Can you post a pic of the top of the weir - how the pipes are set up, and the water level?

Hi mate, with regard to the lights, in my opinion I think LED lights long term will work out to be cheaper and better than T5s

Although the combinations with T5's are good in the sense that you can just swap out a tube to one you like lol. I've heard the same thing from a few LFS regarding lights. LED's to show off the corals, and T5/LED or T5/MH combo for growth.
