The Tank is now full of freshwater for a test , I've set the valves to level up the weir box water depth and seems to circulate fine with pump running flat out . The  emergency drain copes fine with valve shut on the syphon leg . The display tank is sitting at a nice depth with the water line just above the hood and the water height above the weir is minimal giving good surface skimming .

You can also make a fence using this stuff or plastic gutter guard.  Stops them getting on top in the first place.  The only negative with this design, is they could end up beached on top.  Suggest making it slant if you go with a cover over the weir.

Good idea mate, thanks :)

I'll see if I could silicon the guard diagonal from the top as I do take the combs off every now and then to clean.

@Hai for this I used some Darice mesh from hobby craft four wire armour cable clips and 4 small tie wraps , the clips slide onto the weir making it removable so I can get in with out having to cut out silicone,  the top of my weir is very close to the glass sliding  lids on my tank so it would need to be a really small fish to get through the gap and over the weir , if the gap was bigger I would have needed a box that comes proud of the weir a few Inches to stop anything jumping in 😀

Today I've made a modification to my weir box guard and I've added a couple of 3rd gen koralia 7000's and a smart wave controller . I'm also starting to fill some containers with RO , only a few more things to go now and I'll be ready for the salt . 😀

@Hai It's a Hydor koralia 3rd generation 7000 , came as a pack of two heads and a controller from Maidenhead Aquatics https://fishkeeper.co.uk/product/hydor-koralia-3rd-generation-wave-kit-7000

So today I got the background stuck on inside my weir , and I've started to fill with RO .......... This could take a while ......... I managed to get the sump filled up yesterday , which felt like an achievement in it's self lol

This could be an amazing tank.  Following with interest.  @Mike had a background, and I really liked that.  This is looking good too.

Thanks everyone , I'm actually quite pleased with it myself , I tried the back ground on the outside of the weir first but it just didn't look right so I put it on the inside and it blended in better with the back of the tank, it took quite a bit of trimming to get it just right but I'm quite pleased with the look .
Today I bought and fitted up my lights , two AI Hydra 26 HD's , and I got a couple of tee's and doubled up the two RO canisters I have and have managed to double up my RO's water output , I've nearly got the tank half full now so hopefully salt tomorrow night or Sunday morning . Will post some pics tomorrow .

Thanks:

Mike

Yes, mine was similar, it's on page 1 of my tank thread. It was really good, I'd never have a bare glass backed tank again, wondering what background image, or colour to paint the back... Put things like mushrooms, GSPs etc up against it for a while and they'll grow up onto it.
