So here it is my own tank thread , haha
As some of you already know I currently have a fresh water tank that I'm planning to convert to marine .
So here's what I'm starting with

So far I've been reading up on what's all what with all the different aspects of marine setups , which has been a lot to get the head round , but I feel I'm getting a reasonable understanding of what I need to do .
So far I've got my sump ordered , I've a small RO filter that a friend had passed on to me and my skimmer has arrived . Went for the bubble magus C5

Great skimmer. FYI that's a Curve 5, the C5 is a different (less good) skimmer with parallel sides. Daft confusing names I know.  :heyyy:

Looks to be a good start!

PS I love Oscars.  :D

So do I. I miss my pair, gave them to my LFS for the display tank and they have been breeding since :(

I have just started out too and I also opted for the curve 5, and although it took a day or two to settle down it is now working a treat and I would definitely recommend it. You can't get any better info than the knowledge of the guys on this forum who have been there and gone through most of the things you will encounter starting out in this wonderful, hobby. So good luck and I look forward to seeing how this progresses.

Hi everyone thanks for the replies , am really looking forward to getting things started , will be a nice change for me .

@Mike thats handy to know , I thought the C was just short for Curve didn't realise it was a different skimmer .
@Mike & @fr499y  , yeah I love Oscars too , I hadn't  planned getting  any when l last changed the tank , went for just central American cichlids as I'd kept and bred South American cichlids for years , was quite upset after loosing my previous Oscars a few years ago . They've so much personality compared to most fish . I ended up with these two after a friend could no longer keep them and the LFS wouldn't take them in .

So this is where I'm at now , my sump is ordered and should be here within 4 weeks , I've got a small 50gpd RO unit (which I still need to test TDS) and I've got my skimmer. I'm still trying trying to decide on what lighting to go for , I think I've narrowed it down to either 3x AI Prime's or 2x AI Hydra 26 HD , but still undecided .
For my return pump from my sump I'm thinking about the Jecod DCS 4000 pump .
For my overflows I'm thinking a high level weir 500mm long on the back centre of the tank , running either a bean or Herbie setup drilled through the back and piped down to the sump .
Any recommendations or comments on what I'm thinking welcome welcome

My sump arrived at the weekend , quite delighted , slowly getting closer to setting up ?, just wish they wouldn't stick the labels inside the tanks as they never come off clean .

have a look at the marine orbit lights they would sit on the glass lid under the hood ,would need to leave the hood open to release heat ,ok for softies and a few easy to keep lps duncans ,hammer etc.

@romperstomper yeah did have a look at them , only seem to be available in America tho and it's bad enough trying to get stuff delivered from other parts of the UK to planet Inverness lol , am thinking about getting two AI Hydra 26 HD's . Need something small that will sit within my hood and not get too hot .

That sounds like a good choice, I have managed to squeeze two AI primes under my hood, I did think about getting the hydra but it was cheaper for me to get another prime.
