Fun job tonight. Rewire the goosenecks as 0.5m is a piss take! and find a way to mount them above the tank as the surround on the top of that tank is too flexible to hold the clamps securely. The colours in the tank with these two bulbs are pure awesome. The greens, yellows and reds of the corals/fish almost look radioactive!

Good lights make a huge difference.  Once you get this hard work out the way, you'll be able to sit back and enjoy.

if only i could sit down and look at it! no room to do that lol I'll have to post a pic later of where the tank is :P

Finally got my head around mixing the salts. I'm working with 500ml dosing bottles and reading the instructions is a little confusing.

Common sense would say - add so many grams of powder per Litre of water, but nooooo!! They have it down as, mix 1KG of powder with 'bla bla' Litres of RO Water.

You'd just work it out.

All you need to know is how many grams per ml of water.

If you break it down, it gets simpler.

If it says to add 1KG into 8L of water, and you have 5L container, look at it like this;

It's saying 1000g and 8000ml. All you need to know from that is how many grams go into each ml. In this case it's 0.125g/ml (grams per millilitre). (1000 / 8000)

You then just multiply the number of millilitres in your container by that number, so 5000ml x 0.125 = 625g.

Erm.......what he said!  :|

In laymans terms the 1kg is 1000 grammes and your 500ml dosing bottle is half a litre.

So whatever it says per litre just half it for one of those bottles.

yeah yeah I got it all sussed but why they do it per kg and not per L is beyond me lol

Part A - 227g per 500ml of RO water
Part B - 50g per 500ml of RO water
Part C - 295g per 500ml of RO water

? @Mike. I based the half litre thing on fr499y saying he was working with 500ml dosing bottles mate.

Yup, working with 500ml bottles not 5L :) Not a huge amount of room for anything with this tank/space.

Pics of the lights semi sorted!

It'd still work it out the same way. So 62.5 grams if they're suggesting a ratio of 1KG into 5L, but I don't know the amount of water they're suggesting you dissolve 1KG into, so it was just an example, but the maths apply to any amount. You couldn't dissolve 500g into 500ml, it'd depend on the ratio they're suggesting, but they don't give you a ratio, which would be much easier to work out.

Test results as of tonight

Calcium - 470ppm
KH - 6.1 dKH
Magnesium - 1550ppm
PH - 8.2

So looks like the only thing that is really off a tad is the KH. Magnesium is still high from all the dosing for bryopsis, which has finally gone!

Dosed 5ml for the KH so will see in the next day or so what its sitting at.

Calcium is high as well to be in balance with that your alk needs to be around 15 dkh !!

What salt are you using as a large waterchange looks like it would be the best option to bring things back around.
