Hi all
I have been in the hobby since about 2006 but due to work and having to spend extended periods away from home I decided to shut down my last tank in 2014. I was a very hard thing to do but at the time was the fairest thing to do for the inhabitants. Now im not cheap but previously I have always bought, in marine anyway used tanks and to be honest I have been pretty lucky. I have scoured the classified for lights and skimmers etc etc and usually founs a good deal.Well I got the green light from the missus so came the scouring  ;) well I had made up my mind I wanted something between 250 and 500 litres. Nothing really was grabbing my attention with the auction sites and classifieds so ended up going to the lfs. I decided on a Red sea 250 and paid, during the 20 minute drive home I changed my mind and went for the reefer 350.

So after 4 weeks of exucses from the lfs that the red sea were out of stock I managed to order the EA 1200. I actually prefer the 4x2x2 over the shallower narrower red sea and I figured the if the reports of poor workmanship I had read were right they could have it back. Well it turned up and the quality was perfect, to my eye anyway.

So the equipment I have gone for, starting from the top

EA 1200s reef pro
Kessil AP700 Lights
2x Vortech mp40 qd
1x Vectra S1 return pump
Reeflink
Bubble magus curve 7
ITC ALR1 with sicce pump
ITC FR
DD temp controller
Auto aqua smart auto top up
Kamoer x4 Dosing unit
TMC easi dose containers
Digital heater
Tunze glass cleaner
DD RO unit

Inside
2 bags of medium grade aragonite live sand
20 kg Pukani
15kg of plate.

After deliberation I have decided to try the Nyos 2 part however I may have to separte the mag/cal as I currently have elevated mag levels. Im not particularly worried about mag yet

Im using a mix of red sea and Salifert test kits.

Feeding alternates between frozen and I am also trying Nyos gold pods.

Stocking is light.

Fish / inv

4 Chromis
2 Clowns
1 yellow wrasse
1 cleaner wrasse
1 fox face

I cleaner shrimp
1 Conch
A few of red leg hermits
A few snails

Corals
A few sps frags
A few zoas
Some zoa frags, rainbows, granny smiths etc

Thats about it so far  :P

That’s looking great and some good equipment too.

Scape looks awesome too.

Regards to the mp40 dry side you really want the cable facing up and use the sticky pads and cable tie to secure it, if it falls of and hits the floor it will distort the case turning it in to a jack hammer on the side of your tank. I speak from experience. It also makes taking the wetside of for maintenance easier too.

Tim

Cheers Tim

And good advice on the cable, i did actually do that on my old tank. Its amazing how much I have forgotten in 4 years lol it is cable tied to the back of the tank so it wouldn't hit the floor but would pendulum in to the wall. Either way I will get it changed in a bit.

I am on the look out for a piano black cabinet to house all the equipment. I have enquired about the EA cube cabinet on its own but they want £300! Space it so tight I wish I had just gone for the 5 footer.

Very very nice tank,  it looks the business!  :D  Cracking selection of kit there as well.

What's the thing that looks like a double DI pod going into the return area?

Thanks:

Its just a dual filter I had made, the plan was to tumble rowa then have it run carbon in the second chamber. It was working a treat but I wanted to give the ALR a go. When I went to collect they also sold the matching ITC reactor so I got that too, but obviously made the dual redundant.

Yes mate, 2 bottles of colony, i also added 25 litres of water from an established tank and a handful of sand to help seed. The rock all came from tmc and has been ok with no critters that i have seen. Ammonia and nitrite were gone in 3 days. I began introducing the fish after 5 days.
I fot three frag after 10 days, gsp, fogspawn and a small people eater frag. all still ok and we are beginning of week 5

Only thing im bothered about is that the plate is iether leeching or i have lights too high as i have an algae bloom on it, the pukani doesnt have any.
I increased the lights as i added some sps frags.
Salifert isnt registering any po4 but obviously it is there. Just going to see how the Alr does and see if it dissipates. only set the alr up Monday night so very early days.

Hello all
Work has been a bit busy but thats allowed the tank time to mature a bit.
Anyway.. changes. Removed the ap700 lights for 2 x xr30s so i have full light coverage for sps.
Added a banana wrasse and a scooter blenny and a scopas tang.

Some more sps frags last week and plan a few more this week if o manage to get my days off.

Noticed my tri acro is changing colour and really basing out so please with that :)

All in all going ok

Looking nice land shark. U on a Red Sea reefer by the looks of it? Like the scape looks like u get really good water flow round the back of then rock work. Need to alter mine slightly the overflow box annoyingly sticks out on my tank too and not gettin enough flow round the back for my liking. Welcome back keep the updates and pics coming in

Well had a day off work and ending up doing more than i would if i was lol

Been struggling for space and keeping things tidy so decided to try and do something about it. Managed to buy another cabinet to match my ea one and then move all the electrical stuff over to that. Im planning on using the top of the cupboard for testing etc although the missus thinks a little frag tank would be ok on it.

It could still do with a bit of finishing of to be honest.
Anyway let me know what you think

Looks great, frag tank or you could set it up asa completely different ecosystem with things in you don’t want in the main tank.
