I think then it was defo a conch as the cone snail would have had loads of time to kill them.
Not that makes you feel any better about it, sorry.
If it's any constellation, my hermits have made off with about 8 nessarius

Thanks mate.

I reckon a conch could normally have escaped too, they can jump quite well! I reckon the stress of coming from the shop/acclimation probably weakened him and the hermits took advantage :(

Lol bloody Hermit Crabs!
My one is the bane of my tank, always messing with my Coral and now he’s started climbing my Birdsnest!

Sumped all mine after a number of snails were attacked. Seems like you needs to pick crabs or snails. Crabs also attack and kill each other, so I stick to snails and shrimps now.

I've just picked up another conch and popped him in the sump. When he's finished cleaning that up I'll swap him with the hermits.

It's weird, I had a conch in with these hermits before and they never touched it.  Maybe they're not getting enough food or need some bigger shells to try on..? 🤷‍♂️

RW-8 completely packed in, couldn't afford a gyre just yet so in the meantime replaced it with a UK spec Jecod SOW-8.
It's a good upgrade I think,  the pump is a fair bit smaller and the controller now remembers the power you had it in on each mode. So e.g. wave1 will go to power 1 then just changing it to constant will automatically put it back on power 8 or whatever you had it on.

Current state of the frags I managed to save from the nano:

Some STN on the AAC red planet (2nd from right) and bleaching on the centre one but it doesn't seem to be getting worse.   Under blue lights they actually look okay, and have pretty good polyp extension so feeding lots of RedSea ReefEnergy and keeping fingers firmly crossed...
