It depends on how quickly the alk dropped tbh.
I don’t think nutrients would cause it, they would more than likely just loose colour.

Cheers Tim.
Just had my ICP back and I've got high copper (8 ug/l) and zinc (90ug/l) again.    :offended:

I used ATI this time, and they check your RO at the same time.  Looks like that's the source (2 and 5 ug/l cu and zn in my RODI output), even though it's 0 TDS on a brand new meter.  Guessing I need to get one of those triple stage DI chambers.

edit this is what im looking at

That won’t help, that’s a good idea and put this in the last one, I’m sure it does more than just silicates. https://www.osmotics.co.uk/products/1-Litre-Colour-Changing-Silicate-Specific-Resin.html

Ah gotcha. Cheers.  I've ordered the triple di chamber. I'll get some silicate stuff next time.

Shouldn't copper show up on a tds meter?

Yea I think so but it's such a low level (ppb).  Very open to suggestions if you've got any other ideas where its from!

Alk and cal usage has gone through the roof,  so i'm guessing everything is getting back on track after using the polyfilter + new RODI thingy
Apart from last night I wasn't concentrating and dropped my Tunze care magnet on one of my large seriatopora colonies and snapped it in half. Looks shite now.  lol

Note to self: they don't float!

Made so many noob mistakes with this tank. LPS next to SPS = SPS with a bald patch!

Can't decide what's going wrong here.  Nutrients too low (phosphate measured tonight at very nearly zero again 0.009 - not a typo! - even with extra feeding and dosing phos + nitrate). But also I'm running a Hydra 26HD at 100%.
The fact the Red Planet is going green leads me to believe the light is not too high, but the green slimer is look bleached to me and that's much further down in the tank.

Green Slimer Acro (middle)

Red Planet Acro, pink/green in middle

It's not all bad though,  my forest fire monty has got its green tips showing nicely

And this blue acro which I got from AAC totally browned out has started to colour up nicely

Sorry for the blurry pics,  my phone's camera is shocking!

Okay mystery solved on the bleached acro...

Turns out it was getting extra PAR of over 1200 umol/sec thanks to a laser beam of sunlight that gets through a gap in the curtains at this time in the evening!
