What do you mean once they are used?

Yep it moves once it gets clogged up, water rises and triggers a float switch which moves the paper on

It winds up on the smaller roller on the left side; by the time it rolls it is dry and there is no odour

I had the older version and got fed up with it, couldn’t put the flow through it I wanted and the roll kept going out of line letting the water past so I pulled it out and now run no mechanical filtration and havnt really noticed and difference in water clarity.
I think the new ones redesigned by D&D are much better.

Finally got some time today to give the tank a sort out.
We are currently waiting to hear about a house move that was supposed to happen months ago, it is in the process of going to court and have got a barrister to deal with it.
Because of the house move I was going to shut the tank down and sell all the livestock and keep equipment to start up at a later date, I sold some of My corals but hen decided I couldn't part with my fish which I have had for around 5 years plus.
I lost a bit of interest in the tank with everything else going on so decided I needed to do something to get the mojo back😁.
I have decided to go back to basics. I have been dosing cal,alk and reef trace elements along with nopox And no water changes for the last 7-9 months .
I have now stopped all dosing apart from 2 ml nopx daily. Phosphorus reactor has been also removed. I have carried out a 50 litre water change and will be testing 3 times a week along with weekly water changes to try and work out if I really needed to be dosing what I was.
The only thing I am really please with is the clarisea filter roller.
My current way of thinking is are we adding stuff ,dosing etc just because something new has come out and everyone eaves about it? Thinking back before I stared dosing I was happy with my tank and everything was thriving,
why did I start dosing because Lfs advised to as had started keeping SPS corals and was having issues with stripping.
I will try and update every fortnight with test results starting tomorrow.
Some pics of tank currently.
