Yeah you must be feeling like somethings crawling up your back , its on yer mind all the time. Honestly i do hope things get sorted .

How did you treat the WS,if you moved them and used a chemical could it be a knock on dammage effect from that? Tho that would not account for the Anthias  ...nope thinking out loud ...

Feeling crap.  I feel so bad for anything that is sick or dies I think is down to me.  A personal failure  :embarrassed:

@Carol , the short version is I caught them all and put them in a HT and did hyposalinity.  The gorey detail is here:

Thanks Carol

I do try to do the best for them.  I think it's unfair to do it any other way.  We take them out of the ocean, or breed them for our pleasure, so we have a duty to do all we can to make life as perfect as possible in return.

Just a thought Graeme.....IIRC when you bought the Anthias, did you not say that one of them had died when you went to pick them up from the LFS?

Therefore may have already had something wrong with them!

Chin up Graeme  knowing how you go about caring  for your stock and the lengths you've gone to for them not just the WS outbreak but the auto feeder etc I would say this isn't anything you've done, I've found it's sods law that the fish you want and have to wait for end up carpet surfing, not eating or just won't mix with other fish.
I should really sort this out!!

Thanks:

I've ordered the Triton ICP-OES test.  Should be here tomorrow or Friday, and I'll send the water sample off straight away.

Quote from: Triton
We test for following Parameters with ICP-OES :

Na, Ca, Mg, K, Sr, B, Br, S, Li, Be, Ba, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Al, Si, As, Sb, Sn, Cd, Se, Mo, Hg, P (PO4), Pb, I

There's another test too, but it only adds Cl, F, and NO3.  But, it costs the same again, and as I can measure Nitrate myself, I only gain two elements.

Wow that's an extensive list! Was good to see how many of them I knew.

Now see if you can find a element breakdown on one of the salt mixes to see if any of the results are way out...

Triton have done that for us.  They have compared ocean water from different regions around the world, and come up with a baseline that they meausre against and tell you how far out you are from ideal.  They give a RAG status for each one too, to tell you if you're within a range they deem ok or not.  There is then a lookup to see what to do about each element to resolve it.  Seems very well thought out.

I'd use them for test results, but wouldn't get their products as we know we can get the raw materials much cheaper.

I had issues with getting the test kit.  I ordered it, paid for it, then waited and nothing turned up.  I sent an email asking what was going on, and got no reply.  A day or two later, I got an email asking me for a review of the product!  I replied with a snot-o-gram.  The next day I got a PayPal refund with not explaination!  Not happy

So, I asked on a Triton FB group and got some offers from suppliers.  Tried a couple of website and struggled - really poor design.  Eventually a guy offered if I called him he'd sort me out.  He was great, and I had it in a couple of days.

My intension was to do all my readings on the same day I take a sample, so I can compare.  You've just nudged me to get on with it - I'm on leave today.

So, my results are:
Nitrate 0
SG 1.026
pH 8.2
PO4 0.026
Ca 440
KH/Alk 6.7
Mg 1260

Need to get PO3 down, so will restart my reactor with some RowaPhos.
Ca, KH and Mg are all a little low, so will nudge these up by dosing as normal - been a bit slack with this.

Let's see what Triton comes back with then
