Ive had this firefish about 3 weeks.. at first it was out and about eating like a mad, then last weekni noticed a swelling at first i thought over eater but after a few days the lump hadnt gone down so i treated the tank with dionex.. the fish itself is still eating but has become reclusive.. i waited till the treatment was done and the lump has moved down and reduced so i thought maybe it was recovering? Ide feed brine with garlic and some peas to aid its digestion.. but today my wife has sent me this video.... it looks as tho the blockage/parasite? Is leaving via the side door.. i tried to catch the fish yesterday but no luck it was still to quick, i planned on euthanasia but without destroying the tank I can't remove it. Is this some alien type parasite about to wipe out my tank??

The pea thing is mainly for bigger fish. Did you boil it so it's soft, was it a garden pea and did you chop it finely enough for a firefish?

If it's still eating, it can't be be critical yet surely? If it's a digestive blockage, it'd stop stop eating just like we lose our apatite if constipated and bloated.

It's not about to wipe the tank out, even if the fish dies, it'll just be consumed by CUC, it won't cause any harm.

EDIT:

Videos are best uploaded to youtube, they're far too big for us to handle plus we don't have a player for them. A 20 second clip from a modern phone can be well over 100MB.

Are you saying it's belly is ruptured?  :|

Yeah petit pois type peas boiled in ro and then shelled and squished, i feed my hermit them sometimes he loves it : ) i thought it mite help.. i was thinking  a blockage would stop it eating which made me think parasite? The lasaration is either something escaping or maybe its been rubbing itself on LR? Just wanted 2 check theres no known jackie chan style worm thats going to decimate my life stock : )

Hi mate if you think it's a parasite try and catch it and give it a RO water dip. I had to do that with my female clownfish, the parasites fell off and now you wouldn't even know by looking at her.
There's a fine line between success and failure like there's a difference between surviving and thriving and we are all striving for a thriving success.
