Hi all,

About a month ago I added a duncans coral frag to my tank. It currently has 4 heads. Placed it in the sand in a low flow area and it has been doing great. Eating and really coming out and looking full and lush.

However, yesterday one of the heads wouldn’t come out at all and the same thing has happened today. The other 3 seem ok. Looking closely it seems almost like the head has completely disappeared.

Nothing has changed in the tank and parameters are all good.

Anyone had this happen before and is this the beginning of the end for the other 3 heads??

Hi I wouldn’t worry to much there pretty bullet proof, just have a look to see if a pest is  trying to nip or eat it.

Thanks, I’ve moved it off the sand now and on to a low down rock as I think the goby was annoying it and covering it with sand all the time. Either that or my two dancing shrimp are bothering it as it started to retract a few days after they got confident and started moving about the tank.

Mine definitely bother my LPS corals when they are hungry so that wouldn't surprise me.  I feed mine sinking hermit crab pellets made by Hikari.

It looks much better now. 2 of the 4 heads are pretty much fully out, one is halfway but one looks like it isn’t even in the tube any more. Is it possible for one of the heads to die and the rest of the coral be ok?

Will the other head grow back?
