I picked up a Seneye reef and used it tonight to test my PAR levels. Quite surprised how low it was  :| Probably explains some problems i've been having  :P

I'm going to gradually ramp up over the next few weeks. Out of interest I tried the lights on at full blast, and PAR was nearly 600. THat's including going through a really grubby lexan lid as well. Not too bad for the money.

Anyway how much is everyone else running? I'm struggling to find out how much you should have. Seems like anything from 400 to 800 is recommended for acros. I guess you just keep going till they bleach then back it off a bit. :D

That 70 reading is low isn't it.
No idea what mine are, I might do what you have done and pick a seneye up at some point.

Do it! It works pretty well as a PAR meter. I got mine second hand for £40 delivered and I think it's decent for the price.

I'll probably only use the remote monitoring when I'm on holiday, the temperature/ammonia monitoring would have paid for the unit three times over if i'd used it last time I went on holiday and my heater failed  >:(

BTW for anybody else wanting to check their PAR, i found this site:

ReefCorner | Euphyllia glabrescens – Indo Gold Torch Coral Frag – WYSIWYG 1

If you search for your coral on there, it has guideline PAR figures. I need to pretty much double my lighting levels to meet their minimums  lol

Thanks:
