Hi all , so I got a blue and a white led setup on my juwel Rio 180 , was wondering what light would show up the green colour more in my frogspawn and hammer coral .
Or is it a case of shelling out £100 plus for full spectrum lighting

And the rest mate!  🤑

Orphek make something called the OR3 that you can add to give the corals extra pop. The Blue Plus or the UV/Violet would help i reckon. Aint cheap though!!

For good growth a good full spectrum light is recommended. There are usually quite a few good second hand options available as well e.g hydra, prime, radions but £100 is not going to get you far enough I’m afraid

Thanks guys ,
Jewel do a full spectrum light which comes in at about £140 . Was thinking this might be worth a try to see what difference it makes before shelling out loads for a expensive full
Spectrum light .
Good thing about the juwel one is the two flaps fit into it like they do on the original light lid .

you sure you want full spectrum tho mate?  It will make the tank look more natural with duller colours on the coral.

You probably just want a bit more UV, violet and blue to make them pop more?

How long is your tank?

I’m not a lighting expert so I was just thinking that full spectrum lighting would bring out the colours more in the fish and corals etc ,
And be more beneficial for growth ,
If you have views please let me know ,
And thanks AJM for you’re reply ,

Well it just depends what you're after mate tbh.

To take it to extremes - lots more blue/violet/uv gives you this kind of look

Full spectrum would give you this kind of look

Here's a thought though,  iQuatics make a kit that fits to your tank and will let you put 4 T5 tubes in, then you can run whatever combination of blue/full spectrum/actinic that you like

If it were my tank then yeah I'd stick a bit more blue/violet/uv in there 🙂 i quite like the look you have at the moment though to be honest
