AI controller mk 2 psu

I have managed to sort my sol led out.when I plugged in the controller it worked without plugging a power source into it.Is the usb on the controller just for up dating or does the controller take its power of the light.

Yup the controller takes power from the light by way of the 3.5mm jack.
