Hi everyone , I seem to be growing what looks like an awful lot of pineapple sponges in my sump , is this likely to cause any problems ?

Thanks Carol , They just seem to be getting everywhere all over the glass , on and in the skimmer , on and through the heater guards , return pump etc , with the population constantly getting bigger .

There must be nutrients in the water that are supporting them,as the tank ages they will stabilize I expect.
Different rock seems to spawn different small things ,when Ive had different tanks there have been as I said tiny worms, your sponges, I even have the odd few of those bannana algaes growing from nowhere after um....4years or so.
If they bother you remove them, but they will come back to the degree the tank can feed ,where it is right now in its development.

Thanks:

Perfectly normal to get a bloom when tank is maturing and shows good water quality

They will die off :)

@Gav That could be a photo of my skimmer, I was going to clean it but I have decided to leave wel alone as I have read that they are good for the tank, as Marty said good water quality.
They say a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, but it's not one half so bad as a lot of ignorance.

Thanks:
