Hi
Got a Red Sea 425xl
I have bought a baffle to separate main section as I wanted a refugium
Looking at how they designed it it looks like the first darkened chamber is for the refugium them skimmer
As I intend to grow pods is this setup a mistake and would it an advantage if I reversed the chambers with refugium at back
Thanks

Hi

I've got a Reefer 250 and by no means an expert (only just starting out myself) and have the same situation, having done a rumage on the internet it was a bit 50/50 on position of the skimmer, in which chamber etc but it all came back to the benefits of a refugium no matter where it was out weighed not having one and if youre worried about copepods going into the skimmer, it said some would, but nothing to really worry about.

Also have a reefer 250 and have sacrificed the ATO reservoir as refugium. Growing Calerpa and Chaeto in it for nutrient export. Using a pump from a reactor to provide flow and have DIY overflow (not brave enough yet to drill the glass...) returning refugium water in return section, hoping that any pods will then make it straight back in display.

If you have your skimmer, reactors etc in the front section,  will there still be enough room to slide the filter socks out easily?

Thanks a good point.  Will have to look at that in terms of space.  Thanks
