Hello,

Got all the fish over into the QT on Thursday. Left everything else in my DT but my peppermint shrimp started really bugging my bubble tip anemones and now they are completely closed up.

Are they dead? Stressed? Hiding?

Had you fed it all, or is there any chance he ate a shrimp?

QT looks good, gorgeous anthias  :tongue-love:

It's probably just balled up while it digests the food.

Reason I asked specifically about shrimp was cos i wondered if it had eaten one of your peppermint shrimps  :|

Lol well that's always possible! I have two one called pepper and one called mint, original of me I know, but only ever see one at a time so it is possible he ate one that was annoying him!

Yes the QT tank is going well and I love them too! Have put light on to take a couple more pics 😁

Very pretty fish

ps. In that superfish filter,  have a look inside the sponge and check it doesn;t have charcoal in it.  I'm fairly sure that's the same filter i had a few years back and it had a little bit inside the sponge.  It was like little pellets., i just tipped them out.

Not normally a problem but would remove any meds/copper you try and add. 😊

Yes it did have charcoal in it, I spotted it the first time I rinsed it before putting it in the tank fortunately BUT excellent catch on your part to spot that from the pics!

I have kept it to add back in when the treatments are finished to help clear up the water as I won't be doing a full water change

Hi, thought I would put a little update on of how things are going ☺️

Sad news first, I lost my male anthia and a fire fish in my QT tank but the good news is the copper power finally arrived and I slowly added it and it's now sitting at 2.02 ppm according to my new Hanna checker (wow this hobby is expensive). Remaining fish are looking happy, eating more and more active!

In my DT, I got up the other day and found my sand anemone who was happily settled and doing very well where he was, went for a walk into my wavemaker  :scared: So that was a pretty drastic clean up operation and very depressing, I nearl threw in the towel. The bubble tip anemones are doing well came out of hiding and seem okay. Lovely brown algae bloom is my next task to handle!

Here's some pics!

Hi, it's going well thanks.

No more losses to report  although my mandarin fish is alarmingly skinny but is a picky eater (as they all are) so to be expected at this stage of quarantine.

My DT is looking pretty disgusting with algae but the inhabitants are all doing well and the parameters are all good. I have cut down the light times and keeping up water changes as per the normal for the tank. So not much more I can do until I can get the fish back in, September the 15th is still a long way to go!

There's evidence (scientific study) that raising the temp to 27C (go slow, half a degree a day), speeds the ich cycle to 6 weeks. That will help.

You should feed the display occasionally as well, so the nitrate/phosphate don't get too low 👍

Well sad news guys, that's Mando the mandarin dragonet fish died and I think Goldie the gold rush tang will be following soon. Goldie has a very bad case of Popeye, so not looking good.

Bit sad tonight when I think back to having a well stocked DT and now I am down to only 8 fish remaining in my QT tank. Oh well lesson learned quarantine everything in the future. It will take a while to build back up again but we will do it.

Only 8 more days of the copper treatment to go!

I had my tank wiped out twice with ich. It was after the second time I decided to quarantine everything. Never looked back. Six years later, no fish disease at all.

Hi guys,

Had to change my plans as my fish started to look not to happy in the copper, picture of the Chromis included as she was doing the worst (sorry about the reflection and quality of pic but doing my best)did a little reading about time scales and realised that if I moved them to a clean tank for the last stage of Quarantine I could stop the copper earlier than the 30 days. So they are now in another tank (thank goodness for second hand tanks) and have perked back up.

So I now have an observation tank as well 😂😂😂

So my plans now are to let them rest for a week or so and the give them a Sera tremazol bath and then observe until the DT is ready for them.

As always any thoughts and comments are appreciated
