I'm going to upgrade to something pretty massive when we eventually get our kitchen floor sorted........

.......How big I go is negotiable.

Is this your new tank on its way now?.........

I just ordered a pair of Clarkiis.  My LFS are pretty good with getting me what I want, and I've never had any issues with fish from them.  Excited now, but might have to wait a bit until they get hold of them.
So the LFS told me today that due to them doing a load of DIY to move tanks around, they are not ordering any fish in for a while

I called up a guy who's a family friend instead.  Sounds odd that I didn't call him first, but he's much further away, and his prices are a steep.  He gives me a discount and makes out like he's doing me a massive favour, but I end up paying what I'd pay elsewhere, so I always feel a bit ungrateful, thinking he's going to call in a favour sometime     Anyhoo...he's had a pair of Fiji Clarkiis in for several months that someone ordered and never collected.  They have had a number of nems in with them and lived in them all.  They're also, sort of quarantined.

I'm curious though...I figured LFSs would run copper in all their fish tanks, with a separated system for corals and inverts.  However, this guy has everything all mixed together in a load of the tanks.  So, he can't be running copper, right?  If not, isn't he risking an outbreak of ich and other diseases/parasites across all of his marine stock?

LFSs don't run copper, as people tend to tip the water their fish come in, into their tanks when they get back home, as part of an acclimation, so they can't add copper.

They generally run either very powerful UV, ozone, or both and also some LFSs fish systems are kept at very low salinity.

TMC don't use copper in their water systems either as it's all one huge loop. They had ozone going into the huge 11 foot tall, 4 foot wide skimmer, banks and banks of long UV sterilisers and a massive fluidised sand bed filter the size of the skimmer for biological.  :O

Ooh, mature ones.

Do they have an anemone, will you be getting one?

They're like bulldogs big Clarkiis.

I have that BTA that's the same colours as yours.  My porcelain crab is in for a shock.  Got a month to serve in my QT first though.  My perc might be getting rehomed when they move in too.  Plan to see how they go together, and move the perc to the QT if it gets bullied too much.

Oh yeah. They'll love that.

Is the anemone a decent size? As they'll be very rough with it at that size, especially with two of them.

I think the Percula will just be bossed out of the area and stay away. They just defend a territory, they don't chase fish down.

The disk is about 4-5 inches in diameter.

It should be ok then.

I've just fed mine, the biggest raw king prawn piece I've ever fed it. I've not fed it in a while, and it didn't waste any time in getting the shrimp into it's mouth. :D The Clarkii confused it by sticking some cockle pieces into it while it was taking in the big piece of shrimp.

I'd never heard of clownfish feeding a nem, until I saw a clarkii grab a bit of fish and stuff it into a nem in my LFS.  Amazing stuff

lol yeah, sometimes I wonder if the Clarkii gets any himself, as he seems to look after the anemone more than himself. He even tries giving it patches of Nori he's ripped off the clip. Obviously it doesn't stick, so a several minute session of going getting the nori, putting it in the anemone, watching it drift away, fetch, feed, fail, fetch, feed, fail lol

Ha ha. Really looking forwards to getting these two in my DT.  Already seeing character in them chase each other about and playing in the flow from the pumps in the QT.
