Hi is it normal behaviour for a Mandarin to hide all the time and never come out. It is new to the tank so I am thinking he may be sulking

They're quite timid.  It'll get used to it's surrounds and start to come out more.  I found mine came out as the lights ramped up and down, but hid during the night and middles of the day.

Could be that its found a spot with plenty of pods and is working its way through them. My scooter blenny was always running off under rockwork munching lol
