Algea bloom and uv sterilizer

Hi guys. I have I think an algea bloom.  In was told a uv sterilizer would clear it up. Any idea how long before I start to see a change.  I have a 400l tank and iv brought the Vecton 400.

Do you have photos, and water test results you can share. There are lots of different kinds of algae, that may need different treatment. Not sure a UV is going to help with a lot of them. It only affects waterborne algae.
