WIll this sump design work?

Water goes left to right.  Skimmer is a tunze 9004 with a surface skimmer built in, so I need the surface scum to stay in the first section.  It's quite bad for microbubbles so aiming to keep those from going back into the display.

ATO sensor will be on the last bit.  Undecided on middle bit, probably chaeto

Do I need another baffle before the return to keep bubbles out?

Cheers!

Yep, that'll work

Just watch that the drop isn't too far, couple of inches is good.  Too much and it creates bubbles.  Not enough and you can end up with surface scum in the last chamber.

I would personally have a bubble trap before return pump as micro bubbles are not good :(

Thanks both,

Marty, would you have under over or over under ( or under over under or over under over) !

So when I did a test run with the amendments suggested (sheets of paper instead of glass panes!), there was nowhere near enough space. So I've come up with this instead.

All good?

The idea of the first pane on the left is just to keep the surface scum where the 9004 can pull it in, rather than going straight back to the return pump

First and second chamber to stay at the same (constant) level. Final chamber allowed to fluctuate for ATO.

Does the drop in the baffle look long enough to get rid of the bubbles?

Sorry! another couple of other points, I can't see how I'm going to silicone in both sides of one of the panes. Will doing it from just one side be alright?

Secondly how much smaller should the panes be than the gap? Glass is only 4mm

Mine are only done on one side.

Leave an inch between and under.
