Hi all, I bought a Linx Vision 8 Windows 10 tablet to show my Seneye data without having to have a PC running or the v. expensive Seneye server as was mentioned in this thread:
https://reefbase.co.uk/d-i-y/hello-again!-been-a-while-and-here's-a-cheap-alternative-to-seneye-wifi-web-serv/msg68205/#msg68205
However, trying to get a OTG cable to power this has been a nightmare, I'm already on my seconf OTG cable from Amazon, perhaps I'm missing something? Is it because my power supply isn't strong enough?
I even tried a higher output supply, and then thinking it's because it's a tablet and not enough power getting through to charge it, I tried the cable with an old Android phone-still nothing.
I'm going mad now trying to sort this, and the original thread poster has not replied to requests to send a link to the OTG cable. I'm even considering making up my own cable.
Can anyone help?

Does the powersupply you have boot up the table when you use a normal cable?

Yes, if you mean does the power supply charge the tablet if it's plugged in straight?
Having had a look online, it appears that this is a known problem, apparently, USB cables have 4 connections and micro usb have 5.
There's something to do with shorting out 4th and 5th and putting a 100ohm resistor between them that makes it work. As it is the little hub I bought recently (which has 3 female USB 2  for peripherals and 1 female micro USB for power) and a switch between OTG and charge, is meant to pass through power on the "charge" position-it doesn't charge at all!

@ajm83, I may have cracked it, we'll see.
I saw a video on youtube where an Indian chap was explaining the problem about the 4/5 cables and offered 4 options to get round it.
The only one that didn't involve surgery to the tablet or a complicated routine was a splitter cable which I've bought (3rd time lucky I hope).
That is providing power through to the tablet (that was always the difficult part) there is a male USB 2 plug on the lead too, and given that the seneye is a male USB plug too, I need a female to female which will turn up tomorrow.
Then we'll know if this off-the-shelf answer works.
I'll post my findings, as always. 8D

This last cable didn't pass signal through, but did pass power through.
I'm beginning to wonder if I'll ever get the power to charge the tablet at the same time as passing signal through  from the seneye.
