Ok so am building the sump and plumbing for my boyu conversion
To saltwater and am thinking quarantine tank.
Can i have one like shown in the pic so to keep it all one system plus increasing the water volume  to the whole setup. The idea would to sit new coral on top of egg crate.
Or is this a bad idea?????????

You could, but it wouldn't be an effective quarantine. Any parasites will simply exist in the entire system. It'd be ok as a refuge area for any injured fish or naughty crabs etc.

It'll also be noisy with just a simple drain down to the main sump like that, it'll slurp and gurgle.

You could add a extra pipe and some taps to isolate the dt and sump from the qt, I have marked it on your pick.
If you medicate though you would need to drain and clean the tank before connecting it back to the system. Or if you get parasites.
You would need separate heaters, power heads etc as well.

I wouldn't have a qt above any other tank.  One drip, and you have to start all over again.

I'll dig out a link later, but I have written posts on here about how I do it.
