Clownfish not eating

Hi all,

Finished cycling my tank last week and yesterday I bought a pair of common clownfish from the shop. They were together in the shop and after acclimation seem ok, colours are good and they are inseparable. My only concern at the minute is they don’t seem at all interested in the flake food I am trying to feed them. The food is ‘ocean nutrition prime reef flakes’. They just completely. Ignore it. Is this normal as they are still settling in?

Also, they stay fairly confined to a particular spot in the tank. Stay together but don’t really stray that far. Is that normal as well?

Any help would be much appreciated

Gav

They may take a few days to settle properly , maybe a little frozen mysis might encourage them , they will tend to pick a spot to host in the tank and probably won't go too far from there .

Thanks:

Ok, thanks for that. I’ll get some different food this weekend and try them with that!

Hi as Gav said give them some frozen mysis, it’s always to start fish on frozen or ask the shop what they have been feeding them. Then slowly move on to flake if you want to.
I have had 2 cardinals for a year and they still only eat frozen so bare in mind not all fish will except flake.

Tried some frozen mysis and they were definitely more interested in that. Looked like they ate some but also saw a lot of eating and then spitting it out.

What does that mean??

There tasting it, if they eat some then that’s good, I wouldn’t worry to much as clowns arnt known for being fussy.
