Hi Im  new on here and can see there is a lot of knowledge around. So can anyone suggest ways of reducing nitrates other than water changes and less feeding. I have tried both without much success. Thanks Jon g

Increase skimming (wetter)
Grow macro algae - most common is cheato
Carbon dosing - I use white vinegar, but vodka is also common, as it NoPoX (if you want to pay through the nose)
Use a deep sand bed (I have this too)

I have a couple of question regarding this , I am sorry jong if I seem to be high jacking your thread but I hope this will help us both
 I do not have a sump so can not use cheato so do you have a fools guide for the vodka method  and also whats the best way to add a dsb ? My sand bed is very thin and how deep would would you recommend a dsb to be ? also any drawbacks to having one ? sorry for all the question but I hope they will help us all
