has anyone used  JBL  bionitratex  to bring down nitrates in their system  ? is it any good over Red Sea NO3: PO4-X or other products. as i get told by many lfs to  buy this ,buy that, this will work and so on. i know the JBL is not cheap over the other products that is out there.

It's a form of carbon dosing.  I've been looking into carbon dosing a lot recently, and have come to the conclusion that vinegar (white not malt) is the best way to do it.  There are threads on here about carbon dosing, vodka dosing, and NoPox (RedSea NO3:PO4-X) dosing that will be worth having a read of.

for all those struggling with nitrates!!!!

I'm suspicious of the need to layer carbon on top to prevent the bacteria blowing away.

its been a week now since i used the JBL  bionitratex .yes i taken the jump and started to  used it and i have to say its been great stuff up to now. one bag used in my external filter without carbon and within the week my nitrate has gone down from 50 colour pink on the salifert nitrate test  card to 12 ppm on the nyos nitrate test kit with 0.02ppm phosphate with salifert test kit. my green hair algae has started to slowly disappear of the rocks.my soft corals as started to bloom out more than ever.
