Hi all,

Still cycling my tank and I have noticed a white covering on areas of my rock. Almost looks like a thin layer of mould.

Has anyone got any ideas what this is and if it’s normal.

Doesn’t show up very well in pictures so I haven’t bothered attaching one.

Any information would be greatly appreciate.

Many thanks

The rock I put in was dry rock not live rock so I’m not sure if it was die off.

Nitrite levels are dropping, ammonia is 0 and nitrates about 20-40 so I would have thought that the nitrites would still be fairly high if it was due off from something???

I’m very new to all this so I don’t really know.
