Hi

Hopefully someone can help. Basically I am as beginner to reef tanks as beginner can be. I have a small (70ltr) tank complete at the moment with only 4 fish and some dead rock.

I bought the tank as a tropical set up but upgraded the filter to suit the reef I wanted to create.

What I would like to is upgrade the white LED lighting I have or add to it so it is good enough that I can add some soft corals too.

Any help would be much appreciated on what the best solution is here.

Thanks

Mike

Hi, welcome to the forum.

What is the LED lighting you've got right now? I take it they're the regular bulb like LEDs you get in toys, etc, not the chip style LEDs that are 'proper' ones?

For your size tank, a small ever grow panel would be good, but if you want aesthetics then the 60/70/80W (or whatever it's at now) Maxspect R420r would be plenty powerful enough and looks great too, also doesn't run fans, it's passively cooled.

Thanks for the relply.

I'm not sure without being able to look (I'm away at the minute) but I'd assume they are the cheaper ones as they came with the inexpensive tank.

Do you think these would suffice?

Will be ok for softies. They do use proper bridgelux LED chips, so will be very bright but total wattage is still quite low, but would do for softies. I'd add them in addition to your existing lighting if possible.
