Hello @Reefmadness welcome to ReefBase Nothing looks majorly wrong there, no need to panic. The rusty coloured brown stuff is most likely diatoms, if so, they will go over time as silicates get exhausted (assuming your source water is good quality!)The purple patches are coralline algae. Most people like this, somebody even asked to buy some of mine. It can be a nuisance if it gets on your glass, but other than that it's no problem. In fact it can be good as it seems to discourage other algae from growing. Can't see anything red in your pics, so not sure what that is.
All looks good to my novice eye @Reefmadness !My tank has been up and running for two weeks and I got the brownish sand stuff - diatoms. I have w bit of green algae on some of the rock and plenty of purple appearing, so I’m happy! Are you running any phosphate remover?
I wouldn't do anything yet. What test kit are you using for phosphates? Sent from my Mi A1 using Tapatalk
I'm using api tank and reef kits, now I know people say they are useless but I read about the tubes being defective and the water line not being correct and if you fill them with a 5ml syringe your reading will be correct. My lfs argued that this was rubbish so I brought my kits down used the syringe and my results matched his, he couldn't believe it
