Hi guys,
I'm new to this game and have just bought an established 48L river reef tank off eBay. Yes probably not a good idea. It has rock, a pair of clown fish, a pair of demsels and a couple of snails. Everything looks healthy and happy but ove just tested salt content with a hydrometer hydrated and it's gone off the scale. Would small water changes every few days with RO water be the answer to this? Thanks in advance for any advice

Hi welcome to the forum

Don’t do anything to quickly as in that size tank a small change will have a dramatic effect.

The best thing to do is ditch the hydrometer and get a D&D refractometer and then recheck it.
I would take out 100ml of tank water and replace it with 100ml of plain ro.
But as I say get a refractometer or get it checked by your lfs or a friend first.
