Evening All

Wanting to understand if it is okay to use sponge filters in a saltwater quarantine tank, I currently have a sort of mini fishroom in part of my garage with 12 freshwater tanks all with sponge filters powered of a centralised air system. The picture attached shows 2 nr of those tanks, 1x3ft at the top with a 2ft below, was thinking the 2ft one below could be used as a quarantine but i dont want to be buying anything. Long term I might set the 3ft one up for keeping coral frags, so basically sponge filters ok?

Yes sponge filters are fine in QT tanks, they also come in handy if you ever want to try your hand at raising fry. Just make sure you clean it thoroughly

Well, my quarantine tank decided to crack on the base (luckily its in my garage) so out with that and in with trying my hand at culturing copepods  rotifers and brine shrimp. Luckily there was nothing in the tank except water when it went.

Ah shit! You manage to fix it, or is it a new tank situation?

Didn't fix it, just replaced with some plastic containers to have a go at copepods and brine shrimp.

On the same rack is a 3 ft tank that is housing 1 nr Jaguar Cichlid that I will be rehoming and converting this into my new quarantine
