Making it safe

Hi All

Gonna put my barnacle shell in tank and see what it looks like, its been in a freshwater aquarium for a good year, what do I use to clean / make it safe before putting in.

did you ever dose anything with copper in to the tank? e.g. medicines/ich treatments

No but the tank was second hand so cant he sure if they did

If theres a chance, ill soak it in ro water overnight then run a copper test on the water to see if its showing anything  woukd this be ok?

Maybe run a poly filter as well incase there is contaminants
Generally I would just dry them in the sun for a few days

Its come from a tank that Ive been running purigen in extetnal filter  for a couple of weeks anyway, trying to help clear up the tank, does this not take out copper?

Not sure, never used it. I know Polyfilter works, used it in the past to remove medications from tanks

Don't think Purigen removes copper.  As @Ratvan says,  Polyfilter does, another thing is Cuprisorb.

Plus it (Polyfilter) changes colour dependant on whats filtered out which i always find fascinating

Never heard of Cuprisorb, will have a read up on that
