Hi, Thankyou all for your info and help, im most likely going to go down the route of adding a little coral maybe some toadstall and a pair of clowns in over the next couple of days and await the algie bloom and tackle that when it happens, i have a 100l nano tank with caribsea rock in atm, i plan on having some coral a pair of clowns and a reef safe starfish, the water i baught with the tank from a LFS wasnt correctly mixed and the silinity levels are at just under 1.20 so its kind of put me of getting my water from them as i live 2 min walk from the sea i thought it would be an easyer and cheaper method.

With NSW you will get bacteria zooplankton and phyto thats used to lower temperatures ,so it's going to die ,in a very small system it could well cause a problem . Salinity of 1020 is fine for fish only and its normally what an LFS runs its fish system at to save money. Back in the day we used to run at 1023 fish and corals. Today 1025/6  35ppt  Is the norm.

As you have a small system  you must be more careful ,small systems are harder to run and less forgiving.

Softies are very hardy and corals wont over burden a system unlike fish . So CUC first if alls well few soft corals and then two clowns as you mentioned.

This is how I would do it ,but Im not god  ,everyone will do it a little differently.

If you do collect NSW you may want to go somewhere like Portchester and collect from the back of the Castle, its far enough away from the Sewer Valves and the Ferries and other Craft that you shouldn't be as affected by contaminants. Unless you have a boat you can use

Also Farlington is another good place to collect NSW, near the marshes car park

Also bear in mind that you ideally dont want it to have rained for 1-2 weeks as there will be lots of additional sediments washed into the NSW.

Thanks:

Thanks, I will if/when it gets here. It'll be a n. wennerae Mantis. Named either Lord or Lady Chompy Bits (depending on assumed  gender)

Be very careful what you name anything. Six year ago  I named a dog Loki , I have been paying for it ever since ...I blame the husband who wouldnt let me call him Kevin. Before that I had a Kurgan , I dont learn.

LMAO, I name all my fish after Evil Spirits from South East Asian Decent. So far had Hantu and Puaka, male and female "Vampires" or sorts that consume unborn fetuses. :D

I like the juxtaposition, kind of like calling someone 6'6" tiny

We tend to stick to the old Norse gods. Tho I had a Tanith and have a Lilith. We had also Pagan the Goat who was a Chow Chow well they all are but to clarify he was not a Goat. :glad: I am not your conventional pensioner  *D

I did once have a Tortoise called Hastur and a blue boy chow I bred had a KC name Dragonweyr Cthulhu . Trouble is I cant spell let alone pronounce ,most of Lovecrafts  gods. Oh yes and we did a good line in KC reg of druid names eg Dragonweyr Marbh Draoi ,Solias Sidhe .

I will get my wrists slapped in a moment for going off topic  lol
